AI use Policy
It All Begins Here
PLUMLINE is committed to transparency about how artificial intelligence tools are used in the production of medical content. This policy is informed by the ICMJE's January 2026 recommendations on the use of AI in publishing (Section V), available in full at icmje.org, and by the transparency obligations of Article 50 of the EU AI Act, applicable from August 2026 (see artificialintelligenceact.eu).
How AI is used
Generative AI tools may be used to support literature orientation, first-draft writing, and language editing. AI is not used to generate final scientific conclusions, interpretations, or arguments; this judgment remains the responsibility of the human author. When AI is used, the tool and its purpose are documented for each deliverable.
Verification
AI-generated content can be incorrect, incomplete, or biased. For this reason, every factual claim is checked against a verifiable primary source, and every citation is verified to exist and to support the statement it accompanies. AI is never listed or cited as an author, and AI-generated material is not referenced as a primary source. All content is reviewed for originality, with appropriate attribution of any quoted material.
Disclosure
Where a deliverable is intended for journal submission or formal publication, the use of AI is disclosed as required, describing how it was used, consistent with ICMJE guidance.
EU AI Act transparency
Every deliverable undergoes substantive human review, with editorial responsibility held by a named individual according to the standard set out under Article 50(4) of the EU AI Act for AI-generated text published on matters of public interest.
Confidentiality
Client data, manuscripts, and other confidential materials are not uploaded to AI systems where confidentiality cannot be assured, and are only processed through tools with confidentiality guarantees.
Accountability
PLUMLINE by GDP Health takes full responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of all content it delivers, regardless of the tools used in its production.
